OCI Create Compartment

Introduction

Compartment is used to organize resources. It is powerful features for security. By default it is attached to root compartment. Name of the root compartment is same as tenancy. OCI Create Compartment post explain the detailed steps.

 Create a Compartment

Log into the Oracle Cloud and navigate to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) console. Follow the steps to create compartments.

Use the top-left menu to select the “Identity > Compartments” option.

Click the “Create Compartment” button.

Click the "Create Compartment" button.

Enter the compartment name and description, the click the “Create Compartment” option.

The new compartment is now listed on the compartments dashboard.

By following these simple steps of OCI Create Compartment you should be able to login to Create Compartment. After creating a compartment, you need to write at least one policy for it. Otherwise no one can access this compartment.

Move OCI Resource to Another Compartment

Any services in OCI can be moved to other compartments. Compute Instance can also be moved to different compartments. After any resource moved to another compartment new policy will be attached as per new compartment.
We can also move any compartment to different parent compartment within the same tenancy.
