Table of Contents
Virtual Cloud Network (VCN) in considered to be Private Network. Oracle Cloud is public cloud. VCN is setup in Data Center. The allowable VCN size range is /16 to /30. Example: 10.0.0.0/16 . VCN created for one regions. OCI- Create Virtual Cloud Network (VCN) components are following.
A Virtual Cloud Network is made up of the following components.
2. Route Tables
3 Internet Gateways
4. Dynamic Routing Gateways (DRG)
5. Security Lists
6. DHCP Options
7. Local Peering Gateways
8. Service Gateways
These components may be little confusing. If you are not sure about these options always choose default options.
Create a Virtual Cloud Network (VCN)
Login to the OCI Console and navigate to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Dashboard.
From Top Left Menu Options Select Networking – Virtual Cloud Networks
Click on Create Virtual Cloud Network Option
Select the appropriate compartment where VCN need to be created. Provide a name and then select the “CREATE VIRTUAL CLOUD NETWORK PLUS RELATED RESOURCES” option.
Other option “CREATE VIRTUAL CLOUD NETWORK ONLY” then You’ll still need to set up at least one Subnet, Gateway, and Route Rule to have a working Virtual Cloud Network.
Select the “CREATE VIRTUAL CLOUD NETWORK PLUS RELATED RESOURCES” option.
You now have a VCN in your compartment. Click on the VCN name to drill into the detail.
This VCN is created in SGPPOCI Compartment but not in root compartment
By Default VCN will create one default Route Table , Internet Gateway & Security List
VCN is very important component if you want to create any Oracle Cloud Services. VCN has 4 different options. Choose the VCN accordingly. OCI- Create Virtual Cloud Network (VCN) is very simple if you follow these steps.
