Introduction

OCI- Create Compute Instance – EBS 12.2.8 is released by Oracle Cloud. This EBS version is demo version. Provision the EBS Application of any EBS version. Read and follow the steps.

Log into the Oracle Cloud and navigate to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) console.

Select the AD as AD1(Free Tier) and Instance Shape and Configure Network

Click on Create and it will start Provisioning EBS 12.2.8

One provisioning completes we should be able to see the Instance has been provisioned. This moment binaries of EBS 12.2.8 is not yet installed.

EBS 12.2.8 images binary is mounted to /u01 location.

Switch to the root user.sudo su –

First, update the network configuration files to use the logical name “apps.example.com” as the internal host name for the Oracle E-Business Suite application

Run the command to add the new hostname.

Start the Database using oracle user and run the start db command

To log in through the web interface, you must initially set a password of your choice for the SYSADMIN user. After the SYSADMIN user is active with the new password, you can create new users or activate existing locked users. Run the command to enable SYSADMIN user.

When prompted, enter a new password for the SYSADMIN user.

Run DEMOusers.sh script to unlock 36 application users. These users are required to access the EBS. Run this script same way like it has ran to enable SYSADMIN user. Run the following commands to enable the 36 user.

To enable the demo users, run the following commands:

Enable HTTP Access.

From the OCI console, add a security rule to the security list.

  • Navigate to Networking, then Virtual Cloud Networks.
  • Select the VCN associated with your instance, such as my-vcn.
  • Identify the subnet associated with your instance, and click on the link for the security list.
  • Click Edit All Rules.
  • Add an Ingress Rule with the following attributes:
  • SOURCE TYPE: CIDR
  • SOURCE CIDR: Enter the CIDR block of your choice. Note that 0.0.0.0/0 corresponds to the public internet. We recommend restricting this to the CIDR block that corresponds to the IP range you want to give access to.
  • IP PROTOCOL: TCP
  • DESTINATION PORT: 8000
From the OCI console, add a security rule to the security list.

Add hostname details in your local window machine.

GotoC:\\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts add following lines and save it.

150.136.139.194apps.example.com

Log on to Applications.

As the Oracle user, start the application tier services.

sudosu– oracle

/u01/install/APPS/scripts/startapps.sh

/u01/install/APPS/scripts/startapps.sh

This script will star the Application services.

You can now access the applications usinghttp://apps.example.com:8000/OA_HTML/AppsLocalLogin.jsp

EBS 12.2.8 is provisioned now. The administrator must log in to Oracle E-Business Suite using the local login page (http(s)://[host]:[port]/OA_HTML/AppsLocalLogin.jsp) to navigate to the console and unlock the system. If a user with local system administrator privileges is not available, you can access the Secure Configuration Console through a command line utility. For more information, see “Secure Configuration Console” in the Oracle E-Business Suite Security Guide.
