OCI-Create Autonomous Database

Introduction

OCI-Create Autonomous Database is cloud based technology which is designed to automate the DBA admin activities. Released with Oracle Database 18c software. Autonomous Database is self driven , self -repairing and configures its hardware and configuration by its own.

Any database store critical business data and it is highly recommended that the performance of the database is adequate enough which sustain the load.

Log into the Oracle Cloud and navigate to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) console.

From the top left menu option got to Database à Autonomous Datawarehouse

Select all options and give DB Name

For Free Tier services select Always Free and provide admin password

Click on Create Autonomous Database

It will start provisioning the database, wait for a while…

Autonomous Database is Provisioned. You can check all the options

Once Autonomous Database is Provisioned you can check all the options

Database connection strings can be checked from DB Connection Tab. This tab will give you Information of TNS Name, Connection String. You should download the Client Credentials which comes as in Wallet zip file. Download this zip file and save to your desktop.

Click on Download and supply wallet/admin password for Client Credentials.

Login To Autonomous Database

Sign in to Autonomous Database Console by Clicking to Service Console Tab and Provide admin password

Browser based method of executing sql need Machine Learning User.

Goto Admin à Manage Oracle Machine Learning User. This will open a new page in new window.

Click on Create user and give user information

Click on Home Icon on Top Right corner, this will take to Machine Learning User Account and Issue the newly created username and password

First time login will take to Oracle Machine Learning Console

Goto Quick Action à“ Run SQL Statement “  | It will load the notebook. We can test sql statements.

Oracle Autonomous Database doesn’t not requires manual tuning to optimize performance. So from now it is definitely going to change the traditional DBA work.
