Steps to move file to AMAZON GLACIER

 

  • Open AWS management console
  • Click on services
  • In storage, we can find S3 Glacier
  • Click on S3 Glacier

  • By clicking on S3 glacier it will appear like this

  • And we will get multiple options like filter by name, we can find our vault by searching on it.
  • We can delete vault simple there itself
  • In order to create a vault, we can create in two ways
  1. The programmatic way through command prompt
  2. Through a tool called AWS fast Glacier (download it from google)
  • Here I am using fast glacier to upload files
  • This is how fast glacier look like

  • Now click on create a vault

  • Default Region will be assigned itself
  • Give vault name
  • Click on the next step

  • Here we can enable notification by creating an SNS topic so we can get a notification through Gmail etc.
  • In my case, I am going to enable it
  • Click on next

  • This page is to review our vault either for the region or the vault name
  • After review click on submit

  • The vault has been created
  • Click on vault name

  • Here we will get the details of our vault
  • Add vault lock
  • Tag
  • Give Permission policy’s
  • We can enable or disable the notification right there

  • Need IAM user in order to upload our files
  • Create an IAM user

  • Click on Add user

  • Create a new user name

  • Give them programmatic access
  • Click on next

  • Attach existing policies
  • Give Amazon glacier full access
  • Click on next
  • Review it and click on next

  • Copy the access key and secret key and close it
  • Now open Fast Glacier
  • Whenever you open fast glacier it will add a new account

  • Account name as glacier name suggests cloud
  • Give access key and secret key which we get from the IAM user

  • We can upload, download, delete, etc.
